I know you don’t want to hear it but…it’s that time of year again! Time to spring clean your house and clear out all the clutter from the year. To be honest this is my favourite time. There is something to be said about getting rid of things, you almost always feel lighter! I’m going to guide you along your way with some spring cleaning tips to keep your sanity!

Spring Cleaning Tips To Keep Your Sanity!

Spring Cleaning For The Mind

Like I said above there is definitely something to be said about a clean space. Not only for the people in the space but for your mind.

Just imagine not having to look at all the clutter around you. Or having a beautifully organized closet filled with clothes that you actually wear!

It’s the little things that have the most impact.

Tools And Products You Must Have Before We Start

I mean it’s pretty obvious the cleaning supplies we are going to need, right? Maybe so, but I am going to let you know the products that I have used at every hotel chain that I have worked at. We will give your house a hotel clean!

Ok, don’t laugh, I am sure we have all have nasty hotel room experiences me included. I am not naive, but I promise these products work. As long as you use them correctly!

Let’s get to the list.

One Of The Best Spring Cleaning Tips I Can Give You: Start With Good Supplies

A Good Mop And Bucket

I love the Vileda mop and bucket and it’s the mop and bucket we used at the last hotel I worked at. I personally use this product myself and can honestly say not having to touch the mop is awesome. Not only because it’s gross but also it’s a dream on the back. No more constant bending over. Also, the round head can get it the corners, great!

You can also purchase refills for the mop heads so when one is in the wash you can have another on hand. They come individually or in packs of 3 and 6.

A Powerful Cleaning Product

I swear by my Pine-Sol and the hotel industry does as well! I love the lemon scent but if you enjoy flowers they have a bunch for you to enjoy.

Some Microfibre Rags

These microfibre rags are so good. Yes, they may feel weird to touch when your hands are dry but trust me, try to move past that. They take the dust away like a dream and chrome loves them. Try them for yourself you will never turn back.

A Multisurface Cleaner

I love Mr. Clean myself and of course, I have used this product in the hospitality industry. One comment that was frequently said from guests, “It smells great here!”

Pro tip: purchase a reusable spray bottle and pour some cleaner into it and dilute it with some water.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

Whatever this product is made of it’s amazing! This little sponge will remove any scuffs or strange marks on the walls or floor, cupboards, fridge, you get the idea. It’s incredible! Buy in bulk, once you see what you can use it for you’ll be erasing everything around the house!

Scrubbing Bubbles

Nasty soap scum used to be my nemesis working at hotels. This product was a game-changer then and it still is now! Use Scrubbing Bubbles on your shower doors or bathroom tile and you will see the difference. It will cut your cleaning time in half.

Glass Cleaner

For all the glass in your home, I always recommend Windex glass cleaner. Of course, if you would rather use natural cleaning products there is no problem with that. There are excellent natural products out there, feel free to use your favourite.

Extra Supplies

If you have an extra toothbrush or an old one, grab it. Also, a butter knife and a white rag. These items will come in handy when cleaning baseboards and the grime around the sink drain and taps.

Spring Cleaning Tips Before The Deep Clean

Before we get into the awesome checklist, it’s necessary to pre-clean your house. I know why? What is the point? Well, we are going to be cleaning areas of your house that may not get cleaned as often and you’re going to want to access those areas.

If you are overwhelmed already, there is no reason to be! There are no rules here, you do not have to tackle everything in a day.

What you should do is grab a basket and just go from room to room and whatever doesn’t belong in that room place in the basket. When you get to the room the item belongs in-put it away. You get the idea, right? Easy peasy!

Once you have all the clutter put away we can get started!
