Stay in touch with family and friends creatively during these desperate times. Within this post, I will hopefully, inspire you to get a little creative so you are still able to keep in contact with loved ones.
Having to self-quarantine is one thing but keeping distance from loved ones makes it so much harder to deal with. Especially when our family and friends are our support system.
Below I have listed some ways to make the distance a little easier. I hope they help or at least inspire you in some way.
Use These Methods To Stay In Touch With Family
Use A Group Chat
A group chat is a text message but you add more than one recipient. When you add the number to the person you are texting just hit the plus sign and add the other numbers you wish to add to the conversation.
Most cell phone providers offer a group texting option but if not there is an endless amount of apps that do. For example, Facebook Messenger is awesome! WhatsApp is also an option.
A video chat is an excellent option and a fun one. At least you can see your friends and family and know they are ok.
There are numerous providers that offer video chat. Skype is one that I’m sure you have heard of. You could also use Facebook Messenger and video chat as well. WhatsApp has a group video chat, so you can see all your friends or family at once! Google Duo is a great video chat app too.
Create A Facebook Group To Stay In Touch With Family
Almost everyone has Facebook. So if you ask your aunt to join your Facebook group she will probably know what you are talking about, your grandmother may even!
Create a Facebook group and add all your family members. Check-in on one another, post videos, go Live in the group! You could really have fun with it!
Send Them A Meal Subscription Box
Miss having family dinners? Why not send your out of town family members a subscription box. Take it one step farther and ask them to video preparing it and send it to you.
Hello Fresh, for example.
You can even post the video to your new family Facebook group!
In keeping with the idea of videoing creating the meal, why not video chat your dinner meal with your family.
My niece did this with her father tonight.
Stay In Touch With Family By Sending Them A Letter
This might be right out of the box, but why not write your family members an actual letter? I am sure they would love it. Show your kids how we used to communicate!
Start sending weekly check-up letters!
Do you have a Polaroid camera or a printer? You could add pictures of the fun things you and your family are doing together at home.
Keeping in touch with family is one thing but maybe that just isn’t possible. I recommend starting a journal. It just so happens I have the journal prompts to get you started!
You may look back on that journal one day and think, “I can get through anything!”
